In the rapidly changing landscape of communication technology, students need to be aware of the hot topics in the communication field and what are the future technologies that are expected to have a significant impact on the communication market and hence communication engineering education. In this talk, we shed some light on two primary technologies that are currently in the midst of the communication revolution. The fifth generation mobile communication technology (5G) and the internet of things (IoT).
