Chair: Dr. Sami Aldalahmeh
Sami Ahmed Aldalahmeh received his PhD degree from University of Leeds, UK, in 2013, in which he obtained funding from Leeds University and the US Army Research Lab. He was awarded his MSc degree in Communications Signal Processing from King’s College London, UK, in 2007 with distinction and top of his class. He earned his BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan, Jordan, in 2006. Currently he is an associate professor in the Engineering and Technology Faculty at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan since 2013. His research interests include distributed detection and estimation, wireless sensor networks, stochastic geometry models for wireless networks, delay and throughput in wireless sensor networks, and sensor signal processing. Dr. Aldalahmeh currently is the chair of the IEEE Joint Communication and Signal Processing Society chapter in the Jordan section. He also served as its secretary before. He is a senior IEEE member and an active IEEE member for 15 years with affiliation is the IEEE signal processing and communication societies. He has established the first IEEE signal processing chapter in Jordan as a joint chapter, in addition to helping in establishing several IEEE communication and signal processing student chapters.
Vice Chair: Dr. Luae ‘ Al-Tarawneh
Dr. Al-Tarawneh has been with the department of communications engineering at Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT) since January 2019. He currently serves as an assistant professor of communications engineering at PSUT. From 1999 to 2019, he was a
senior/consultant technical engineer at the Royal Scientific Society (RSS).
He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Southern Illinois University (SIU), Carbondale, Illinois in 2016, USA, his M.Sc. degree in communications engineering from the University of Jordan, Amman, Jordan in 2008, and his B.Sc. degree in communications engineering from Mutah University, Al-Karak, in 1999.
Dr. Al-Tarawneh’s current research interests are in optical communication networks, elastic
optical networks (EON), access optical networks and radio over fiber, machine learning,
and wireless communications and related fields
Treasurer: Dr. Mahdi Nisirat
Dr. Mahdi Nisirat is currently an associate professor at the Department of Communications Engineering Technology, the Faculty of Engineering Technology, Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan. He was with the Hashemite University (Jordan) as a teaching instructor for the period 1996-1999, then he moved to Al-Blaqa Applied University at 2000, where he worked as a teaching instructor for the period 2000-2010. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia in 2012; an MSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington, USA in 1994; and a BSc degree in Mathematics – Physics (double major) from King Abdul Aziz University, Saudi Arabia. His current research interests include cellular path loss prediction and optimization, microwave propagation modelling, MIMO systems, and techniques. In addition to signal and image processing techniques and optimizations.
He is the founder and main supervisor of the largest engineering student gathering for all Jordanian universities (SuperNode) that was held consecutively between 2014 to 2019.
Secretary: Eng. Dema Ziad Zaidan
Eng. Dema Zaidan received her Master degree in Computer and Network Engineering from the University of Jordan in 2016, and the Bachelor in Computer Engineering from alBalqaa Applied University in 2012. Currently she is a teaching and research assistant at the Electrical Engineering Department at Al-Zaytoonah University of Jordan. Her research interests include embedded system design and implementation and machine learning.
